H/D AU Stories

Harry or Draco as Veela or other H/D AU Stories H/D in unusual careers Harry/Draco as Quidditch Star Harry Potter recs cont

Themed Lists: Harry/Draco as Veela or other magical creature, Harry/Draco in unusual careers, Harry/Draco as Quidditch Star

I've decided, after reading a number of excellent ones, that I'm going to make a list of AU stories that are Harry/Draco centred. So here is a listing of all the H/D one that I have found with comments and recommendations when applicable. I will indicate when a story is complete or appears to have been abandoned. # = good read, ## = very good read.

Yep, the series is now over and 7 fantastic books later we have our final canon. I will still be adding stories to this listing that are AU via the definitions I've given below. Stories that ignore or tweak the epilogue will not be included.

  1. 67 Non magical AU stories, something I used to avoid like the plague, but have been surprised to find that I've really enjoyed a few.
  2. 57 Alternative universe or Parallel universe stories where circumstances are very different from the books, but not magical creature stories unless the magical creature element is almost incidental to the story.
  3. 22 Magical AU stories that are not based in the canon HP world.

Last Update 28/07/08.  Stories are listed alphabetically with the latest stories added since the last update indicated by new. If you know of a H/D story that fits the above criteria that I've not included, please do mail me or contact me at my Live journal

Non magical AU

  • # A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes by CelestialDrgn Harry is the savior of the wizarding world. But, what if that world doesn't exist? Harry awakes from a coma and realizes that the world he knew was imaginary. How does he cope? Rather clever twist on the AU theme and well realised. I think this goes in non magical, but I guess we won't know until the end. Not been updated for some time.
  • A Long Way From Home by Samayel Harry arrives for his first day of college, and meets his new roommate, Drake. Totally OOC one shot, but a lot of fun. Complete
  • A Lovers Passion by XxXMayhemXxX Draco Malfoy is an artist, teaching students when he isn't doing his own thing. Harry Potter is his student, but one day when Harry's used as an erotic model with his teacher, the lines of their relationship begin to blur. Draco chasing what he wants, while Harry prevaricates like mad, but secretly yearns for Draco! Complete
  • A World Without by Leeni Chan. A world without magic and Voldemort for Harry Potter should be dull. It's not. I was too irritated to read beyond the first chapter. This is basically an American High School fic with British localities and names! If the author had bothered to do some basic research, or asked a Brit to beta this, she could have avoided this travesty. If you're going to write 'Hogwarts High' at least be honest about it, otherwise do this Brit the courtesy of learning a little about her culture if you're supposed to be writing about it!  Complete
  • Alice Syndrome by biohazardchild  Draco is an infuriatingly sane patient at the Mattewan Psychiatric Institute, diagnosed with 'psychopathy'. He is to be treated by none other than Harry James Potter, a widely successful psychiatrist and doctor without a failure to his name. Interesting and different, but the Harry here is depicted as rather incompetent which doesn't match with his apparent reputation, plus he appears far too young to have gained such a reputation.
  • Arranged Interest by random laughter Once upon a time... when Ginny is sent to marry Blaise Zabini, she takes Ron and Harry with her. While there, all 3 of them find love in strange places. Especially Harry. Somewhat out of character slow romance.
  • Bad Day? by Vintage Vanity Doll Draco Malfoy thought about few things. Harry Potter thought about everything. Neither thought they would fall for each other. One a gay sex driven son to a big-time politician and an ex-model. The other a struggling orphan musician who has a past shadowed by horror. All it'll take is one meeting to set them thinking about the biggest question ever. A Hogwarts High fic that's liberally sprinkled with song verse, which is a pet hate of mine, and really needs a beta.
  • Battle on the High Seas by Aandune Late nineteenth century. Pirate Captain Draco Malfoy, and Captain Harry Potter battle it out in this swashbuckling love tale. Pretty angsty, but interesting although the young Oc is a mite too 'cute'.
  • Beneath the Sand by PrincessofTennis05 Draco is an archeologist who finds a key and map to the city of Hamunaptra, the City of the Dead. However, with the map and key there is a mysterious man who comes with it. He agrees to help Draco find Hamunaptra, but there is something else he is hiding. Using the plotline of the Mummy. Quite interesting.
  • Bible of the Soul: Book of the Living and the Dead by StarRose In the year 1099, the end of the Dark Ages brought forth another sad ending, for when his lover was murdered, Prince Draco had nothing left to live for and took his own life. Now his spirit walks the castle that was his home, and waits to meet the reincarnation of his true love. 906 years later, the castle is now a boarding school, and when a young man with his lovers' looks and name makes an appearance, a love story begins that proves that even death cannot keep apart those destined to be together. Pretty angsty and somewhat sappy.
  • Big Chicago by Samayel Drake Malfoy is a former drug mule serving seven years in prison for his crimes, then one man changes his entire life and the way he looks at it. Starts as an American prison fic, with Draco/Drake as small and slightly femme, while Harry is large and masculine. Develops beyond prison, but continues with Draco as the demanding 'femme'  boyfriend to the totally macho Harry, so very OOC for both men.
  • Bishop's College by Shakespeare Whore. Harry gets accepted to a prestigious music college. Draco is his RA and a junior. American college, with Americanised characters all totally OCC, liberally strewn with song lyrics and very light and fluffy.
  • Chance or Choice by PlaceboLove. Draco and Harry split up and Harry ran. Now he is back and living in a muggle neighborhood, with Seamus and selling his paintings at a local cafe. Fairly typical angsty beginning for a 'broken up' fic.
  • "Did You Know I'm Naked Under This T-shirt" and Other Great Hits by bribitribbit I know for a fact that Goyle's a drummer. Rather fascinating story. Complete
  • Double Looks by Sakurabound Harry is not the boy who lived, just a regular quiet abused kid with no friends. Until people suddenly want to know who he is as well as a certain Slytherin. Abuse, cruelty and neglect in spades within a plot that makes little sense. Complete
  • # Draco's Boy by Empathic Siren  A mysterious little black-haired boy moves in next door to Draco, and he's determined to make the boy his friend and find out all of his secrets. Later, when they grow up, Draco's determined to make Harry much more than a friend. Well written and intriguing story.  Complete
  • Dragon' Tale by Weasley Wench Fate is a cruel bitch, but Harry is a survivor. When fate throws him a new path, he takes it and learns about love and the human spirit. Secrets are no longer just a part on stage and he learns quickly that sometimes hardships can be the window that opens as one door closes. Interesting, intriguing and well written Complete
  • # Facade by Malfoi Pride and Prejudice meets Harry Potter. Harry and Draco develop a relationship in Jane Austen inspired Regency England. A very well written and enjoyable story, but unfortunately not updated for over two years, and looking at the author's LJ it looks like she has left the HP fandom. There are two enjoyable 'smutlets' from the facade universe, A Taste of Honey  and The Good Morrow, but I think we must assume that this story has been abandoned which is a real pity.
  • Fabula by elirian "I have managed to convince myself that it was because I wanted the memories to belong only to me. Now, years later, I see how wrong I was." An old king reminisces of his greatest love, tragedy and everything in between. Interesting start.
  • Finding Love in Depression by Noclueblueness and Miffy Draco Malfoy is the son of the sixth richest man in USA. Harry Potter is the son of a family who had just lost everything due to bankrupt and stock price plunging. Can a train ride bring them together? Based during the American Great Depression. Interesting concept, but full of misspelling and constantly changing tenses.
  • Flesh Canvas by Jemi. Draco is a Parisian artist who has his eye set on painting Harry. Interesting short story. Complete
  • Freaks and Geeks by Hello Moto Draco Malfoy was born deaf, and now he is being forced to go to a boarding school in New England for the first time. Things aren't going his way. Then he meets Harry Potter, a boy with more than his fair share of secrets. Well written and quite interesting
  • Harry Potter and the Alternate Universe by Aymerysage. Parody of the Swiss Family Robinson story and the Tarzan story. Quite enjoyable read so far.
  • Harry Potter in Love by VG Jekyll Harry Potter, playwright, meets Draco Malfoy Prince of Slytherin. The prince gets himself a part in Harry's play, yet Harry has no idea that one of the players is the man he fell in love with. Interesting.
  • Home Is Where The Heart Is by Meet Me In The Dark Draco is the son of a wealthy plantation owner. A year after WWII, they get a new field-boy. This is their story  I couldn't get into this. Complete
  • I'd rather be your lover by WickedFairyGodmother Draco, leading 'Ladies Man' on a popular weekly soap, is 'outted' to the whole world. He turns to Harry, to help him gain a more respectable facade. Can a fake marriage save his career, or will it prove to be too much for either man to handle? Quite interesting.
  • Incurable by Warholhp or here Harry Potter was not sent to Hogwarts at age 11 as his parents intended. Instead, when an altercation with his uncle turns violent, he is sent to St. Brutus's Secure Centre for Incurably Criminal Boys. But four years later, he has the opportunity to attend Hogwarts, where he learns to live a life he never thought possible for himself. H/D and a bit of mentor-Snape. This is a very well written and thought out story with a beautifully developed relationship between Harry and Draco. The only difficulty at first is in liking this Harry since he is, understandably, so emotionally retarded and distant. I began to empathise with him as we grew to understand him more particularly via his relationships with both Snape and Draco and to a lesser extent Hermione. Complete
  • Just A Lonely Stable Boy by harrys boxers This was inspired by the promo pictures for Equus. Draco Malfoy has all the money in the world, but he's missing the most important thing in his life; Love. Until he meets the stable boy. Light, fluffy PWP Complete
  • Just Like Hell by Cimmerian Sorceress When Draco moves into his new apartment, the last thing he expects is for the spirit of the apartment's previous owner to start haunting him. Even though Draco's convinced that Harry's dead, Harry doesn't quite believe that. Amusing and interesting. Complete
  • # Keeper by kabeyk Non-magical boarding school, lots of fighting and football and mud and scabby knees. And rum and dope and smoking behind the bike sheds and sex in the showers. What it says, and very nicely done too. Complete
  • # King of all Excuses by 1ightining When Harry allows his friends to drag him off for a break in the country, he expects weeks of boredom. Instead he finds murder, mystery, and a side helping of molestation from a certain Draco Malfoy. Enjoyable murder mystery with a lot of humour and inventive and intriguing use of canon characters. Complete
  • # Life as Experienced Through Your Fingers by Gold Snitcher. Draco Malfoy loves boarding school almost as much as he hates them. But this new school for the arts provides him with more challenges and happiness than he ever expected to experience. Well written and interesting AU with excellent use of canon characters. Complete The Art of Practice and Absolute Pitch is the sequel.
  • # Malfoy, PI by Nancy "I'm Draco Malfoy, private investigator. I've seen a lot--I mean a lot, and I'm like sweet seventeen a lot. I thought I'd seen it all, until a pair of green eyes stepped into my office." A noir AU set in L.A. where passion and magic collide. This doesn't exactly sit in non magical, but it's too good to miss and I can't think where else to place it! L .A Heat is a Malfoy, PI smutlet.
  • No Magic At All by Damn It All A story of how two boys fall in love in a world beset by drugs and violence. For Draco, the world is black and empty, until Harry. An interesting narrative type of style and an interesting and different story
  • Naturally by Damusen Draco is not best pleased at his Father's insistence he attend Cambridge, and feels most hard done by for the first time in his life. But a certain cleaner may show him the real world, and that university really can be the best time of your life. Quite interesting so far with clever use and adaptation of the canon characters.
  • Of Crumpled Paper and Sketches by YaoiMaster Harry Potter is a normal senior at the Hogwarts Academy for Art in New York City. He is very talented at sketching, and when new transfer student Draco Malfoy shows interest in his drawings, his world begins to change-for the better. What'll he do when Draco shows interest in more than just his drawings? I lost interest in this very quickly.
  • Once A Thief by Rhysenn24 Once there was a thief who never got caught. Black Inc had taken every case of the mysterious thefts. Detective Draco Malfoy has taken the job to solve them, but something seems to be taking his mind off the work. Harry Potter, a student who is very secretive about himself, is brought into it. Why? What is Harry actually doing on his free time? Will Draco solve the cases? Or will these thefts remain unsolved? Quite interesting, but needs a better beta and the formatting of the story is very poor.
  • # Paying the Piper by Sansa or here One small town, two murders and countless suspects. Police Chief, Severus Snape, and his reluctant side-kick Draco Malfoy must discover the truth behind the crimes before anyone else loses their life. Circumstances become even more complicated when new kid in town, Harry Potter, turns out to be the biggest mystery of all. Prepare for murder, intrigue and suspense. Highly enjoyable good read. Complete
  • Pirate by Silma Draco is being shipped off to marry Pansy. On the way there, the ship he is on is attacked by pirates. Just started
  • Pride and Prejudice by missindependent4. Based off of the novel and movie by Jane Austen. The Weasley family is looking for husbands and wives for their children and Harry finds love in the most unlikely person. Harry as a male Elizabeth Bennet and Draco as Mr Darcy! Complete
  • Prone by Raven4Crow Who would have ever thought that finding sanctuary could be so simple, especially when that sanctuary comes from the help of an enemy. This feels rushed
  • Rose Madder by Killer Dust Bunny After Harry murders his uncle, he is sent to an orphanage, then a psyche ward, and eventually on the run from the law while the Mafia lord Voldemort seeks to kill him. He finds love from a sweet, but potentially dangerous, Draco Malfoy. As the person who recc'd this said - it is very different and sort of creepy. It's also well written, but I can't quite decide how I feel about it.
  • Save Me by dress up romance After his parent's death, Harry is given over to his only remaining relatives. But his drug-addicted uncle sells him to a child sex-ring for drug money, leaving Harry alone in the world of prostitution, drugs, and abuse. After 19 years of being someone else's property, Harry escapes his dirty past. Can he hide from them for long?  Angst, angst and more angst.
  • Smoking Hot by roxie rose 13 Desperately needing a break from class, Harry retreats to the bathroom, only to find something he never expected but is more than willing to accept. Harry chasing a Draco who seems a total user, such that you really question if this Harry has any self respect whatsoever! Complete
  • new Somebody's Darling by Deirdre Riordan Gryffindors and Slytherins... or in this case Yankees and Rebels. Harry and Draco end up on opposite sides of the American Civil War. An interesting and emotional read. Complete
  • St Brutus School for Criminally Insane Boys by Maizeysugah Harry Potter is sent to reform school to cure his overtly homosexual tendencies. Unfortunately, everyone else's parents have sent their boys there for the same reason. Predominately H/D, but a number of other pairings as well. I don't recognise the characters she writes about at all. Complete
  • The Apprentice by Intrepid Aarcher The Golden Prince of Gryffindor has fled leaving behind a young emissary who is taken in by Snape, Advisor to the King of Slytherin. Why doesn't Prince Draco trust him? And why is the Dark Lord interested? Interesting so far
  • The Bet  by DellofFaith The bet was simple. Get Harry Potter to sleep with him and Draco would get Blaise's coveted porsche boxster in return. It was simple. Too bad Harry was celibate. American High School fic with a Harry who at 17 seems to have managed to cram an enormous amount in his short life time, including having a baby! Complete and the sequel is Redemption.
  • To Dance Again by KillerDustBunny Draco Malfoy is a criminal gang member, Harry Potter is an abused dancer. They both have their own stories to tell, but who will listen? Love blooms, but is it strong enough to last? Angsty romance set in the USA was complete, but it being rewritten
  •  The Final Solution by Devilita It might be hard to imagine anything less than chilling occurring between an SS man and a Jewish prisoner in the concentration camp of Buchenwald in 1944's Germany. Hard, but not impossible. JKR based Voldemort and the DE's on Hitler and the SS so if the author had made Draco the SS man I might have read it, but since she made Harry the villain and a murderer to boot, I'm totally not interested.
  • The Loft by PaddycakePadfoot. Above a flower shop in New York, is a newly rented loft. Draco Malfoy doesn't want to get married, and Harry Potter is running from his past. Will love spurn from hate? Or will Harry's problems ruin them both. The characters are totally Americanised in this AU, however it is very well done and very interesting. Complete
  • The Need by Lady Bahiya Lord Draco Malfoy has been in love with Master Harry Potter for a very long time and will lie, cheat and steal to get him. Once he does, he must do everything in his power to win Harry's love. Harry might just as well be a woman in this story since he acts and is treated like one in a time when women were powerless property of their menfolk. Complete
  • The Rightful King by nat rulz The Gryffindor kingdom always was one for trouble. Assasinations, poverty and secrets. Perhaps the mysterious apparently dead prince can fix that? Fairly sweet and fluffy. Complete
  • The Rogue Prince by Triden The Potters were the royalty of Gryffindor before Lord Voldemort rose to power and tried to claim their lands and their only son, Harry. When they refused, he destroyed every inch of the once great and mighty kingdom, murdering the royalty and selling the locals like livestock. Thought dead, Harry lives grows up, hiding and plotting in secret. The Dark Lord had conquered Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw and had threatened Slytherin. So Harry created the only force that could stand against Voldemort in these dark times and hopefully with the alliance of Slytherin, Lord Voldemort can be defeated once and for all. Quite interesting start.
  • # The Self Made Man by bloodsucking-llama It's 1895, and in the Victorian society Charles Dickens and Oscar Wilde existed in, Harry works hard to rise in society. When Draco ruins Harry's status, a battle of societies begins. A very well written and researched story.  Complete
  • The Song of the Cold by Lil'Andre The best and worst things are usually made from passion. From the love and strength and the devotion which you put into your actions... your choices. That's why Harry sings the way he does and that's why Draco craves for Harry the way he does. I'm not fond of stories that feature 'stunningly beautiful' OCs so prominently plus Harry appears totally OOC so I've yet to find anything to like as yet.
  • The Tale of The Jolly Todger by kermit the frog This fic features swordplay, leather trousers, Love at First Sight, and other such silly stuff. It's crack, okay? Enjoy. Fun! Complete
  • The Tutor by Shinigamis Night  Both Harry and Draco both find themselves uprooted after their families kick them out and Draco finds an unexpected distraction that just might ruin him. Do they manage to deal or will things fall apart? Somewhat confusing at present.
  • The Wedding Date by gemlou137 Harry Potter is a very famous fashion designer in America. He gets called back to England for his sister's wedding but has to bring a date. He reluctantly finds himself a hired escort. Facing his tormentors again after several years Harry somehow manages to fall in love with his escort. Quite an interesting story with nice use of a number of canon characters. Complete
  • The Wicked by BloodyBlackTears The typical Harry moves into Draco's town AU love story... with some major twists! Also ActionAdventure. Lily, James, and Sirius are all alive. Punk!Harry Theatrical!Draco  Complete  Harry and Draco are totally OCC and could be any two guys. Liberally sprinkled with song fic lyrics. Sequel is  The Savior
  • The Window by dracoredeemed. Harry is excited about starting university but has a dark secret. On the first day of classes, the object of his secret shows up, causing much angst for our hero. Pleasant American university fic. Harry, Hermione and Ron feel pretty much in character while Draco is a very much a whitewashed version of his canon self. Complete
  • Thief is such as harsh word, Harry by 17th Century Rogue Draco is a renowned pickpocket, leader of the brotherhood of the Slytherins, the most notorious thieves in London. Harry is an upperclass student concentrating on his studies. Their paths cross... Well written and intriguing.
  • To Start Afresh  by Elensaa Harry Potter is the new boy in school, and he catches the eye of the school's most popular boy. But when Harry's most dangerous ghost catches up with him, will Draco survive where another didn't? American high school fic,  just started, but looks promising.
  • #Un Dieu Imaginé by Marks. A continuation/remix of Switchknife's Un Dieu Anonymé Some time after the bus stop incident, Draco and Harry have come to a mutually agreeable 'arrangement'. I read Marks' story first and loved it, particularly the ending. I then searched out the original and enjoyed that as well. but I have to admit I prefer the continuation. Complete
  • Vinegar by JapaneseLovingPrincess Harry's private teacher remus reveals a secret. This will lead to Harry finding hidden feelings for a certain Draco Malfoy. But will it be safe to tell him what he feels for him in 19th century London where that could land you in prison. Quite interesting start.

  • # Yorkshire Puddings by Karina4 After an unexpected encounter in a supermarket, Harry's Christmas takes an interesting turn of events. Delightful story and so wonderfully British is makes me want to hug it. *g* Complete

Alternative or Parallel Universe

  • A Boy Named Draco by JillianK Draco the squib grows up unwanted but not unloved. I have to admit that however interesting and well written the story, when an author changes a main character as much as Draco is changed here I find it hard to get into and remain involved and interested.
  • A Malfoy In Red And Gold by shadowsamurai What would have happened if Draco had been sorted into Gryffindor instead of Slytherin? Would he adapt to life with heroes or hate it? And what will Lucius make of it all? Interesting story as seen from Draco's pov. Complete
  • # A Slytherin In Gryffindor Clothing by maheliem Draco hits his head and wakes to find himself in another world where he's a Gryffindor and Harry Potter is a Slytherin. This is both an interesting and fun story. Draco finds himself in Hogwarts that's not his, although only he appears have been changed. The Harry Potter here is not a hero, and doesn't have a lightening scar on his forehead. Plus he's a Slytherin, but Draco slowly finds out that he is still the same Harry when given the chance to be heroic, Funnily enough, Draco finds out that he has the potential to be heroic also. Complete
  • Alternating Circumstances by maqique Draco wakes up in a horrible copy of his Hogwarts. Alternate universes, ugly beige pants and dark lords ensue. Quite interesting and often amusing.
  • # Another World by Canis Lupus or here There is no rest for Harry Potter: Just as he thinks he may have succeeded in ridding the world and himself of Voldemort, he gets sucked into another world A very interesting story.
  • An Alternate Universe by Nitasha James & Lily didn't die that day Voldie attacked. Harry's twin Jamie is thought to be the prophecy child so Harry grows up neglected. At Hogwarts Harry gets sorted into Slytherin and gains a father figure in Snape. This is intended to be a seven year arc  It's basically a rewrite of canon with the Gryffindors as the bad guys and the Slytherins as the good guys. The Potters take the place of the Dursleys, and it is their extreme cruelty and dismissal of their son, Harry in favour of their daughter Jamie that totally fails to make any sense. Alternate Universe Year II, An Alternate Universe Year III
  • As A Bat: by pottermalfoy24 When Voldemort tried to kill Harry as a child his aim was off. Now how will history be changed by a blind Harry Potter? (will be H/D later on in the series) This story is well written and the details of how Harry copes with and very much overcomes his blindness are excellent. Complete As A Bat II: The Heir of Slytherin is the second part.
  • # Beautiful Stranger by Silent Auror Plot clichés galore, in smut form! Featuring leather-clad Draco and slightly-drunk, inexperienced Harry in a club, and all manner of good times!  and the sequels Beautifully Familiar  and Always and Forever are all delightful. Complete
  • Ceteris Paribus by charlotteschaos Sorted into Slytherin rather than Gryffindor, Harry embraces shades of grey and is the better for it. A rather clever short story. Complete
  • # Child of Four by sarini The difference one spell can make...Voldemort developed a spell that mimicked death, trapping a soul within a body, but then his own body was lost. How will the path of Harry's life change? A very well written and clever rewrite of the HP books with Harry placed in Slytherin yet friendly with a number of Gryffindors. I loved the wonderful use of Neville in this and enjoyed the spins the author gave to canon and also liked that she often cut away to the aftermath rather than repeat well known material from the books.
  • Consilium Callidus by Lady K d'Azrael. Is Harry Potter good because it's intrinsic - he's just born a hero, or could it all have been so different, with a little encouragement from the Malfoys? Yes, it's a nature/nurture debate. Hurrah!  Quite interesting with an intriguing ending. Complete
  • Crucible by shewolfe7 On the night of Voldemort's rebirth an ancient Dark Lord's plot to gain vengeance is finally put in motion. Recovering from Possession, Harry battles the foreign memories and behaviors imprinted on his mind and his magic by a Dark Lord so powerful that he was likened to a God. In the wake of a second celebration of Voldemort's defeat, conflict between the Wizarding World and the Vampire Coteries flares when Harry Potter is abducted. With ally and enemy alike seeking to use Harry as a weapon, to what lengths is Harry willing to go to protect his interests? Intense and very interesting.
  • Demon Engament by Apocalypse Angel Laiceica Lily and James are married and have a son, Dave, when Lily gets pregnant with Severus' child, which Snape doesn't know about. They move to America until Harry is 16. Takes place in 6th year, alternate reality(I don't like saying alternate universe for some reason.) Too many mistakes, author asides, wavering tenses and people acting OOC meant I gave up reading after a couple of chapters. Plus I have an aversion to feminised Harry.
  • Different Worlds by Professor McKitten. Draco is sent to Durmstrang for the first five years of his schooling. How ever does he and Harry end up together? This is a somewhat angsty, nicely written love story with a sprinkling of sugar and somewhat OOC behaviour from both Harry and Draco.
  • # Doppelganger by Vichan. Harry sees himself in a mirror with a green towel. Draco is nice to him one second, and his typical self the next. What does it all mean? A Slytherin Harry and his 'mate' Draco Lucius fall into Harry's world and turn it upside down. For this Harry has defeated Voldemort, this Harry is very much in love with his Draco, and Draco Lucius is all together easier and more likable than the Draco Malfoy of his universe. Enjoyable and interesting story, but  apparently on hold, although the author promises that she will finish it eventually! Linked to author's page as each chapter is not linked together. Or available here or her  LJ.
  • # Earthbound Spook by Cathy Harry has no reason to like or trust Draco Malfoy. The fact that Malfoy has already died once shouldn't change that. Very enjoyable, original and interesting story Complete
  • Erasing Time's Tracks by Hahukum Konn Draco Malfoy has run out of options, and he's run out of time. The only way out is to go back to the beginning. A rather intriguing going back in time story.
  • # Fighting The Green by Violent Artista An AU, where Neville is the Boy Who Lived and Harry Potter is a Slytherin with a special gift struggling to find his place in the world. Long, enjoyable AU with short, but good chapter and little waffle. Harry remains essentially himself and the intrigue is fascinating. Regularly updated WIP
  • Five minutes by Draeconin Five minutes can change the future. A minor mishap makes Harry miss the Weasleys in his first year. This is well written and interesting, but I do have a problem with any story that sets out to portray Ron, and many of the Gryffindors, as complete and utter arses to a Slytherin Harry. Canon Ron is a very good friend to canon Harry, and I dislike him being vilified. Draco on the other hand... *g*
  • For Sixteen Galleons by Ruhgozler. For Draco's 7th birthday, he wants his very own boy. We all know Lucius spoils him rotten. Quite interesting AU where slavery is common and where Harry is Draco's slave and placed in Slytherin with him when they go to Hogwarts.
  • # Going Home by punkimonki A desperate attack sends Draco to a place he could never imagine, and he embarks on a journey he never thought possible. Thoroughly enjoyable and nicely written story written for the H/D holidays Summer 07 round. Complete
  • Gypsy Caravan by witch dragon 5 year old Harry Potter overhears his Aunt complaining to his Uncle about the 'freaks' camping nearby. Maybe if they are the same type of 'freak' he is they will want him? Long story with a huge number of OCs and a very different Harry who is now named Gabriel.
  • Hedges of Thorn by Earthquake A sensitive young tutor. A gloomy manor. H/D slash in the alternate universe of Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre. and the sequel Only Castles Burning A very different and highly enjoyable AU. Complete
  • # Hogwarts Express by Closet Skeleton. Now boarding the Hogwarts Interdimensional Express. Please mind the gap. A fascinating and occasionally bewildering story that starts of slowly and just about spins out of control, but is worth reading. Complete
  • Hogwarts High: The Magic of Love by Furyfeather what if harry is a uk transfer student to america, where he meets hot jock draco malfoy? What if the author was eating pixie sticks and cheetos while writing this? I gave up on this pretty quickly as the author desperately needs a beta and a dictionary!
  • House Colours by sarka. Slytherin!Harry/Gryffindor!Draco I didn't like this story initially as I felt it was if Draco and Harry had swapped personalities, then it kind of fell into place and I began to enjoy it for what it was. Hermione was great, and bloody scary at times, and I loved Neville and Luna. Clever, intriguing and well written. Complete
  • # I Give You a Wondrous Mirror by Lomonaaeren Harry is too busy ten years after the war to help out just one family, but that's exactly what he has to do. And as he hunts their enemy, magic no one understands is hunting him. Excellent story Complete
  • If Only by S. Phantom Draco wishes for one thing as he dies, but what happens when he makes his wish come true? Quite intriguing.
  • If You've a Ready Mind by Maya A re-telling of the Harry Potter books with Draco Malfoy as a Ravenclaw. Special features include Anthony Goldstein's inhaler, Cho Chang's charms, Gregory Goyle's alarming identity crisis and Ron Weasley's allegedly enormous broom. As seen through Draco's spiteful, malicious and prejudiced eyes! Often amusing, yet at times dark and despairing, this is an interesting read. Complete
  • Interview with a Rockstar by Slytherin.Pryncess.666 Harry's a very famous London rock star, and Draco's secret obsession. Draco is an editor for a London magazine, and has to interview Harry. Will the interview ever get finished and submitted on time? Unrecognisable characters.
  • # Into the Cold Fire by Shamera After a final fight with Voldemort, Harry is sent to another world... a world where he died ten years ago, Voldemort is still at large, and his parents are alive. But the differences aren't stopping at that. Complete  Well written and intriguing story with an ending that leaves you searching for the sequel Vigilae Mortuorum  (Harry arrives home to realize that nothing is as he expects it to be. Voldemort's curse has taken ahold of the wizarding world, and no one knows how to stop it.) only to be highly disappointed when it seems to have been abandoned, although the author is still writing as evidenced by her LJ.
  • ## Light in the Shadows or here  by A Brighter Dawn - In another universe, where Harry Potter never existed, things are getting desperate. Voldemort rules all with Lucius at his right hand and Draco as his dark heir. Those who would rebel against him have been placed in the Shadow Camps. A last group of radicals desperately seek the help of one who can defeat the Dark Lord. They use a long forgotten ritual to bring them someone with the power to destroy this evil... Harry Potter never can get a break.  A very interesting and enjoyable read.
  • Lost Boys by DemonicCharity The Harry is thrown into a world where he is the Dark Lord's Chosen Servant and Draco is the Boy-Who-Lived. Are both who they seem to be? Can they bring about the Dark Lord's fall and will they find comfort in each other? Very interesting and well written story, but unfortunately not updated for some time.
  • Love from Chaos by Loui This is the story of how a Wizarding rockstar and a nursery school teacher meet and fall in love. Light and very fluffy! Complete
  • Mine by cherrycola69 After Draco has a conversation with Harry he decides that some risks are worth taking in the name of love - no matter what the consequences. A 'be careful what you wish for' scenario. Complete. In  The End Draco's changed. When Harry notices that, things begin to spiral out of control. A battle between desire and duty ensues. Is the incredibly angsty sequel. Both stories are worth a read.
  • # On the last day of our world by Sansa1 During a detention, Harry and Draco are locked in a strange room overnight. When they escape the next morning, they are alone. Love, angst and adventure abound as they struggle to survive in an empty world. AU, written pre-HBP. A really excellent story that keeps you guessing all the way through. The ending may require some tissues, but it is beautiful. Complete
  • Out of the Shadows by Kaitlyn Cross A series of vignettes offering an alternate take on Harry and Draco's time at Hogwarts. A scary encounter during detention changes things. Enjoyable read, I just wish Ron and Hermione were a little more prominent. Complete
  • # Oscillate Wildly by Marks. After a particularly gruelling Occlumency session, Harry practically comes apart at the seams and finds himself living partway between two lives. One is his life at Hogwarts. In the other, he's been in a mental institution for the better part of six years. What happens when Harry realises his whole life may be one elaborate fantasy? Well written and fascinating story. Complete
  • # Phantasmagoria by Ephemera Swindleberry aka furiosity There are other worlds beyond this one, but Harry is not looking for them. Far from it: he is only looking for the last Horcrux. Along the way, he meets someone he did not expect and finds a world he didn't know existed. It all sort of goes arse over tea kettle from there. Or perhaps not. A fascinating and enjoyable read. Complete
  • Power by Gatewaygirl Draco attempts to hide from team captain Potter in the changing room (AU Slytherin!Harry) A short, dark pwp with Draco seeing how he can turn what appears to be defeat and submission into power and control. Complete
  • .Preternatural Love by cmereandplay What if Harry had accepted Draco's offer of friendship first year?  A tragic love story. As a reviewer said, very Romeo and Juliet. Complete.
  • ## Sacrifices Arc by Lightning on the Wave or here. Saving Connor begins a seven book AU called the Sacrifices Arc of Harry Potter's school years where Harry's twin Connor (bearing a heart-shaped scar) is acknowledged as the Boy-Who-Lived. I'm came in half way through book three and was so intrigued I quickly read the first two books. This is immensely well plotted and written. It is worth reading the author's blurb on the whole arc at her author's page on ffnet or skyehawke. The H/D begins in the later years and is very present in Book 7, but Harry and Draco are very good friends throughout.. The series consists of Saving Conner  - Year1, No Mouth But Some Serpent's - Year 2, Comes Out at Darkness Morn - Year 3,  Freedom and Not Peace  - Year 4,  The Wind that Shakes the Sea and Stars - Year 5  A Song in Time of Revolution - Year 6 and I Am Also Thy Brother. - Year 7. I can't emphasise how absolutely superb these books are and how they get even better as time progresses. Yes, Harry is a very strong wizard, but the emotional fall out of his upbringing along with the plotting of his enemies, and those one would consider to be his friends, mean that nothing is a walk over for him and he struggles to survive in the maelstrom around him. Draco is beautifully conceived with much of the arrogance and conceit of the original tempered by his real love for Harry and the lessons he learns along the way. Each character in these books is well crafted and interesting. She talks further about her stories here lightningwave.livejournal Complete
  • Same Time Next Year by Olivia Lupin Draco Malfoy is Sorted into Gryffindor upon arriving at Hogwarts. No one, most especially Draco, is especially happy about this, but Harry tries to help. The fic depicts only the first night of the new school year each year. Nicely done story that manages to tell us a great deal about Harry and Draco's developing relationship over the years in seven short chapters. Complete
  • # Slytherin Lovers by Hijja spanking This is actually a very clever one shot with some fascinating back story filtering through the spanking scene. Harry as a Slytherin is believable because he is still very much in character as is the controlling and manipulative Draco. Complete
  • # Tempus by Ravenna C Tan. Students at Hogwarts have always been warned about corridors that appear and disappear. Did you ever wonder where they go? Or when? Harry thinks he is late to his seventh year potions class, but he turns out to be more than seventy years early. A very well plotted and thought through story that is both exciting and intriguing. The Draco presented was sufficiently like present day Draco Malfoy to keep my interest yet the circumstances of his time and for his Harry's first meeting  so different that their relationship was totally believable and highly enjoyable. Complete
  • # The Fine Line Between Then and Now by dragon charmer What if everything changed and you didn't know how to make it right again? Beautiful story
  • # The If Sieve by Cathy The device sat on Draco's bed, denting the heavy green quilt into a rumpled dip. It looked a little like a Pensieve: a solid stone bowl filled with quivery silver liquid. I've listed this under AU because it shows a number of potential may be or what ifs and because it's a good read. Complete
  • The Myrmidons by Pretty Racing On Halloween night Hagrid never had the change to bring Harry to Dumbledore, instead he and four others were given to the Aurors and raised in a secret training program sponsored by Unspeakables and Head Aurors. Now, when he should be starting his seventh year, he and his four companions step for the first time into Hogwarts. Interesting twist, but this features a strong, assertive, arrogant Harry and I have to admit that I don't like him any where near as much as canon Harry
  • The New Guy by Regal Baring After the death of Harry's parents, Sirius became his guardian and they were on the run. Harry is 16 and going to Hogwarts for the first time: what happens when Harry is befriended by Draco? And what does a ferret have to do with anything? Quite interesting, but I'm not overwhelmed by stories that immediately make Ron, and by implication the Gryffindors, a prize prat to Harry and vicious with it, that's Draco's role.*g*
  • # The Pendulum of Choice by Rushlight The future is not some place we are going to, but one we are creating. Harry, from a defeated universe, travels through parallel universes to find somewhere he can live again and be of some use. This is not exclusively H/D, although there are some very lovely H/D interactions and some fascinating glimpses of alternative Dracos. The different realties Rushlight creates are very clever and intriguing, the different Harrys all surprisingly similar in many respects. Complete
  • # The Potter Files by nqdonne Private investigator, wizard, thorn in many people's sides. Harry Potter's a jack of all trades. A very enjoyable and clever mix of Harry Potter and The Dresden files with Draco as Murphy and Snape as Bob! Complete
  • # Things That Seem by Maeglin Yedi A potion gone wrong. A desperate wish. A new future. And a...horse? A very enjoyable view of a possible future with a Harry who is both horrified and intrigued by what he finds. Complete
  • # Time Out Of Place by Cosmic or here Harry wakes up with a throbbing head, but he soon realizes that a headache is the last thing he has to worry about. Suddenly, he is thrown into a world that is much like his own,  yet at the same time very different. Visions, Voldemort, potions, poison, fun, adventure and romance follow. And what part does Draco play in it all? Enjoyable and intriguing read with a well depicted developing relationship between Draco and Harry and lovely use of Hermione. Complete
  • Tough Act by Isabel Evelyn Slytherin!Harry At the age of six, Harry runs away from his abusive family and is considered dead to the Wizarding World. Suddenly, at the age of 13, he reappears. Quite interesting, if rather unrealistic story, that needs a good beta. The Harry presented here is far harder and less friendly and open than the Harry of the books.
  • Turnaround by nomango So what if Harry didn't get AK'ed? Instead, Lucius died that night, and Narcissa ended up in Azkaban, and Draco became, in effect, the orphan. Interesting although the Draco we glimpse here is about as far removed form his obnoxious canon self as it is possible to be!
  • # Vertigo by jennavere. When a mission for the Dark Lord goes completely wrong, Draco Malfoy ends up in the very last place he expected. Clever and amusing story with a lot of fluff alongside some intriguing angst.
  • When Two Worlds Collide by Ashen Skies In another world Harry accepted Draco's friendship and was Sorted into Slytherin. Now he has found a way to change places with Gryffindor Harry, who learns that there is more to Malfoy than it seems. Interesting story with a lot of potential.

Magical AU

  • A Mark Of You And Me by SuishouTenshi Based on Anderson's The Little Mermaid, in which Draco abandons everything for love and finds freedom in the most peculiar place. Not to be mistaken for the Disney version, this is a very well written and is faithful to the original so don't expect sweetness and light. Complete
  • Dark Fascination by Asurahime Although you are only a half-mystic, you are also my son and the heir to the Mystic Region of Facinaturu. There shall be no other, and the Prince of All Mystics is crowned today. That is you, beautiful Harry. Fascinating and at times bewildering story, but unfortunately last updated in Sept 04
  • Dragonberrries by LdDurham Draco is in a tower. Harry comes swinging by. The destruction of a beloved fairytale ensues. Fun!*g* Complete
  • # Guarding The Dragon by Copper Vixen The Red Lions of Hogwarts Mercenaries and Guards are hired to escort Draco Malfoy and his companions from Hogsmeade to Diagon Alley. Well written and interesting. Complete
  • Heir to the Throne by Ange Noir Tomayas the Destroyer believes the prophecy made at the end of the last Great War (centuries ago) was referring to him alone. More powerful than even the King's Advisor, old Ailbus, he terrorizes the elven world until, suddenly ... he is gone. Why? Ailbus suspects Karito Jamison to be the reason... but what about Karito's twin, Harito? Very painful beginning for Harry.
  • Harryella by Harry s boxers or here A fairy godmotherfather, a prince and a poor little skivvy who isn't allowed to go to the ball. Funny, although the humour is a little strained at times.
  • It's Always Been About You...About Us by Vintage Vanity Doll In a land that no one shall ever see... a kingdom of wonder that shall never be conquered... a land of such power that no one will believe what I speak is true there is a story even greater than its home. A story of the ever elusive true love and the fight of good against evil. This is the story of the perfect wonder's grey area. As the cliche goes; Once upon a time, in a far off land, there was a prince, his love, and a war. Yet to really get going
  • Prerogative of Power by draconianangel or here In a war-torn world of commoners, soldiers, wizards and nobles, Lord Voldemort has the upper hand, and as a reward, he gives Draco Malfoy the land of Gryffindor. Enter Harry Potter, the present master of Gryffindor. A well written and highly enjoyable story that's been on hold for a long time now.
  • Prince Fleetfoot  by Megyal The tale of Fleetfoot. A delightful fairy tale. Complete
  • Seventh Turbulence by Poisoned Ink Standing at the opposite sides of the war, Prince Draco of Slytherin never expects an enemy to bring such comfort in time of darkness. Interesting and has potential.
  • Son of Avalon by Tsurusaki Eiri Based loosely on the story of Cinderella. Interesting story. Her writing style takes some time to get into though. Complete
  • Taking What's Mine by KnightKitten The Niartesac Disease was named after the village it had originated from. Extremely rare, it was caused by an overload of magic in the body. Teliot's Crown Prince has the disease and Voldermort wants him because of it. Prince Harry! Bandit Draco! Quite interesting story although Harry does come over as being very effeminate, 'cute', weak and feeble one minute and then surprisingly agile and capable the next!
  • Teach Me by Lady Pippy Harry Potter is a poor young man at wits end. Draco Malfoy is a spoiled, violent noble who needs a tutor. A fit of magical temper brings Harry into Draco's world, and the young wizard is reluctant to let this apparently ordinary boy go. Is it really up to Draco, though? Interesting and intriguing.
  • Terms of Surrender by embyr81788 As a gesture of good-will, the Champion of Gryffindor is sent to negotiate the terms of surrender with Voldemort's heir-apparent. A peace treaty won't be the only thing on the table. Very interesting and well written. Complete
  • The Anointed Prince or here by Decadence Faced with his upcoming crowning, a war, and a royal ball, Prince Draco Romulus Gabriel Malfoy is forced into finding a spouse, someone of the proper breeding and etiquette. Well written, but this might as well be a het fic with Harry as a Harriet since he's now a wife and expected to produce children!
  • The Consort: Hummingbird Circus by Gold Snitcher  When a rebellion is crushed on the outer-edges of the empire, Draco finds among the captives an intriguing youth who joins the men and women of the harem. Can this quiet boy who refuses to admit his name be worthy of the role of Consort? Or is he as scheming as the other occupants of the harem?  Quite intriguing and interesting
  • The Fey by tweetiescueetie Totally and utterly AU; more of a High Fantasy setting. Intriguing.
  • The Jade Dragon by megyal Based loosely on The Eyes of the Dragon, by Stephen King. Only a few chapters as yet, but interesting.
  • The Prince and the Slave by Shinri Prince Harry of Gryffindor has been forced to buy a slave. He decides to buy one by the name of Draco. But is this slave more than he seems? Needs a good beta as there are far too many distracting errors.
  • The Rogue Prince by Triden Lord Voldemort has destroyed, conquered, and threatened all of the four great kingdoms. Now prince Harry must use Slytherin's alliance and his own sources to defeat the Dark Lord. Quite interesting.
  • # The Warlock by MysticShadow. Harry met the fury in the ice-blue eyes of the Warlock with defiance. He was Draco's prisoner, but his slave he'd never be. Yet Harry could not know how Draco ached to posses his body - or that the world's fate will rest on the strength of their bond. I'm enjoying this, very slow to be updated, AU. Draco is perfectly depicted in his icy calm and power, while Harry is beautifully written and while lacking Draco's knowledge and influence, is certainly not powerless, nor quiet in his defiance and anger.
  • # Warrior of The Unforgivng Land by C F Evangel An alliance is set. A warrior from the harsh desert land of Gryffindor must serve the heir to the Slytherin empire. And while they learn to get along, intrigue and schemes grow and threaten to seize the throne. By any means necessary. An enjoyable read.
