Harry Potter: Non Harry/Draco recs mostly gen

- A Stranger in an
Unholy Land by serpant sorcerer or
here (gen)
Days before his 6th year, Harry Potter is sucked into another universe by
forces not of this world. Dazed and confused, Harry finds himself in a world
where his parents are alive, where Voldemort has never fallen and he is
Voldemort's key enforcer. This is the first part of The Stranger
Trilogy. I was caught up in the depiction of Harry travelling to
another universe and the trials and tribulations he had to deal with. The
plot is excellent and the tension is maintained throughout the story with a
fantastic and exhilarating ending leading on to the sequel
A Stranger in the Promised Land.
- Every
Flavour Beans by Erini LaCroix (Harry/Lucius) Lucius
uses Polyjuice to pretend he is Draco. While at Hogwarts he finds out that
his son is involved with Harry Potter. The more time Lucius spends around
Potter, the more he falls for the boy. Then, during sex, Lucius reverts back
to his actual self, how does Harry take the news? What does Lucius do to
keep from losing Harry? Very intriguing manipulative Lucius, very
capable Harry. I'd have preferred H/D, but this story wouldn't have worked
with that pairing.
- Harry Potter and
the Slytherin Connection by KrystalRoze or
here
(H/G)
It's Harry's fifth year and he's finally able to escape the Dursleys
only to find that Voldemort has other plans. After numerous failed attempts
to rid himself of the Gryffindor brat, Lord Voldemort now knows he must
change tactics. This is the start of a four part series. It is not H/D,
it's not slash, but there is a slowly developing and beautifully depicted
friendship between Harry and Draco that I found both credible and highly
enjoyable. The pairing is eventually Harry/Ginny, but, to be honest,
this could almost be called gen because while Ginny is obviously highly
important to Harry, the whole relationship is incredibly low key
particularly in comparison to both the Harry/Voldemort relationship and
Harry's relationship with his friends. I found manipulative Voldemort
fascinating and I very much liked this Harry. The other parts are
Harry Potter and the
Unexpected Inheritance,
Harry Potter and the
Trelawney Prophecy,
Harry Potter and Salazar's
Talisman.

Legacy of Slytherin Series by Angie Astravic (gen)
is a sequence of stories that is rather like reading a HP novel. Harry
obviously features heavily, but the rest of the characters get their
opportunity to shine and a few of the stories, while related to Harry, do
not actually involve him. A couple of moments I laughed out loud,
particularly at this snippet of dialogue; 'Yes, they're a bit like buses,
Dark Lords,' said the Serpent. 'You wait and you wait, for a thousand years
-- then three of them come along, one right after the other.' To read
the series check out the order

Merlin's Memories by MaabConner HP/SG-1 (gen)
Merlin sends Daniel on a more domestic quest. A crossover involving two
of my favourite characters, Harry and Daniel, with a lot of other HP
characters involved. Short, clever and a good link between the two worlds
- Naked
Quidditch by Anya (gennish, ok, mild sexual innuendos of
all kinds). A hilarious tale of the result of the Weasley twins losing a
bet. The story is told via e-mails and is howlingly funny at times. The
ending falls a little flat, but the whole story left me grinning.
-
Only your shadow by PhoenixSong (gen). Draco discovers
that it's easy to hate someone from a distance. When you talk to a person up
close things can look very, very different. A very angsty story from
Draco's point of view. Very well written with a hurting Harry into the
bargain.
- Reign of Darkness
by nlblake or
here Voldemort won and is now not only ruling the Wizarding
World but enjoying his most precious possession, Harry Potter. This is H/V, but in a very evil way. Harry is fighting for his life
and his sanity and Voldemort is revelling in the pain and anguish he is
causing. This fascinating story, with a beautifully depicted Harry, is a
prologue for the sequel that goes into more details about the world
Voldemort has created.
- The
Pendulum of Choice by Rushlight The future is not some
place we are going to, but one we are creating. Harry, from a defeated
universe, travels through parallel universes to find somewhere he can live
again and be of some use. This is not exclusively H/D, but a number of
pairings as well as none. The different realties Rushlight creates are very
clever and intriguing, the different Harrys all surprisingly similar in many
respects.
-
The
watchman by madmadharri is a HP/Darkness is Rising
crossover. It is short, sparse and seen entirely through Ron's eyes as Harry
tries to come to terms with his part in the war. A stranger called Will
Stanton calls for Harry, and slowly makes him come alive again, much to
Ron's gratitude and (misplaced) jealousy.
